The Savona Boat Launch boat launch is a portion of the Foreshore Lease and License of Occupation that is maintained by the Savona Community Association. It is not a municipal launch nor is it an extension of the road network (which begins and ends at the park entrance). New docks as well as a second launch ramp and floating log breakwater were installed in 2015 to enhance the launch area. A lot of physical volunteer work goes into maintaining the launch and breakwater, as well as considerable expense. The bulk of the operational costs are borne by the SCA. Through it’s lease the SCA has full authority to manage, maintain and monetize the boat launch to recover some of the operational costs associated with maintenance, repair and ramp replacement. Beach/Parking attendant(s) are employed during peak times in the summer months to collect fees and manage parking within the restricted areas of the park. This is a day park with no overnight parking.
This is a pay-per-use launch, with a $20 fee expected each time the launch is used. If no attendant is on site it is expected that users without a resident launch pass deposit $20 in the honor box located at the top of the launch ramp. Respecting the honor system during slower times avoids the necessity of full time employees or any future automatic gate controls, allowing more money to be put towards launch and dock upkeep.
Savona residents support Lakeshore Park with a portion of the taxes collected by the Savona Improvement District going to the Savona Community Association to offset a portion of the operational costs of the park. Savona residents (who pay taxes through the SID) are eligible for a $10 annual boat launch pass - which gives them an automatic membership in the Savona Community Association.
TNRD Area "J" residents contributed to the 2015 boat launch and dock improvements through their TNRD taxes. TNRD Area "J" residents (paying taxes to the TNRD in Area "J" only) are eligible for a $60 annual boat launch pass.
